Kayla Heglas

This piece was feature in the Actual Size show at the Miller Gallery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The piece featured five photographs taken around Braddock, Pa and of double exposure photography of Edna (grandmother), Mary Jo (mother), and myself. Additionally, thread taken from their sweaters was used to sew into the images, connecting foreground and background, as well as, self and place. The sewing kit used was passed down generation to generation. The piece featured the three sweaters, drapping from under the three portraits.
